FAQs

Where can I buy Nasher Miles luggage?

Nasher Miles can be purchased on the Nasher Miles website as well as on Amazon, Flipkart, PaytmMall, Myntra. You can also purchase it from the Nasher Miles experience centre at 12 Panchratna, Mumbai 400004.

Why does Nasher Miles cost lesser than other luggage?

Most luggage brands tend to be pricey because of high over head costs. Retail outlets, licensing companies and others, take their cuts before the luggage even gets to the market. Nasher Miles is a mainly digital company that doesn’t have these mark ups, so we can offer high quality in relatively low prices. This benefit in price is passed down to the customer.

Is the luggage water proof?

Nasher Miles luggage is water resistant not water proof. The soft and hard luggage uses materials that provide quite a high degree of water resistance. The difference between water resistance and water proof is that you don’t have to worry about your luggage getting ruined ina sudden rain shower or crossing through a puddled street but you can’t dunk your luggage into the pool and expect it go unscathed..

What is cabin luggage and what is check-in luggage?

The term hand luggage or cabin baggage (also commonly referred to as carry-on in North America) refers to the type of luggage that passengers are allowed to carry along in the passenger compartment of an aeroplane instead of moving to the cargo compartment or in other words, checking it in.

Check-in luggage are larger pieces of luggage which are not permitted to be carried in the cabin of an aeroplane and have to be delivered to an airline for transportation in the hold of an aircraft, which means it is inaccessible to the passenger during the flight or ride. The dimensions and weight specifications for check-in luggage differ from airline to airline.

What is hard side and soft side luggage?

As the name suggests, hard side luggage is made of a hard plastic or metal material and is hard to touch. All hard luggage are durable and therefore offer the best protection of the items inside. The most popular hard material is Polypropylene (PP), polycarbonate (PC), ABS and aluminium.
Soft side luggage is made of fabric and is soft to touch. This luggage usually offers more flexibility (can be expandable with external pockets, etc). However, with modern technology, these features are available in hard side luggage too. The most popular luggage fabric for soft-sided suitcases and bags are polyster, ballistic nylon and cordura. The nylon fabrics (ballistic and cordura) are frequently used in top of the line soft luggage, while polyester is the most popular fabric for most luggage ranges.

What is ABS, PC and PP luggage?

ABS, PC and PP are different kinds of plastic used to make hard luggage.

Polycarbonate (PC) is a moulded thermoplastic and is a very popular material for hard luggage. It is lighter than aluminium but still very durable and offers more style choices in colours and patterns. Polycarbonate is extremely resistant to impact. Upon impact, the material flexes to absorb the impact and then flexes back to its original shape, making polycarbonate luggage extremely resilient to rough handling.

Polypropylene (PP) is also a type of thermoplastic polymer and the lightest of all the thermoplastic products, making it ideal material for any lightweight luggage range. It is also very resilient. Polypropylene is great choice for those travellers that want good protection in as lightweight form as possible.

ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) is a common thermoplastic. ABS is lighter than polycarbonate but not as durable. It is also the cheapest hard material, meaning it is popular in the less expensive hard-sided luggage ranges. It is frequently added to other stronger luggage materials like polycarbonate. The combined material is more durable than ABS on its own but also lighter and cheaper than polycarbonate on its own.

Are the bags water resistant or water proof?

Hard side luggage is water proof. The soft luggage is treated to be water resistant. One needs to be careful while handling water near soft luggage.

How should the luggage be cleaned?

Hard side Luggage: To clean hard side luggage, we recommend using a gentle soap and warm water, rinsing well. If you would like to wax the case after cleaning, any good silicone-base automobile or furniture polish will preserve the lustre and add resistance to the covering.

Soft side Luggage: To clean soft side luggage, we recommend spot cleaning with a mild soap (i.e. dish soap) and water. If this is not successful, try a product used for spot removal on clothing such as Vanish, or using a foam type cleaner used to clean car mats or automobile carpets (sold at car parts stores). If the luggage has an offensive odour, use a vinegar (1 part) and water (5 parts) mixture. This may take the odour out but it will then need to be aired out for a few days.

How should the luggage be stored?

Extremes of temperature, as well as the extremes of humidity will tend to age luggage. Any luggage which is being stored in an attic or basement should be taken out of storage, opened, and permitted to air regularly. This will help to prevent mildew from forming as a result of humidity. It also assists in maintaining the normal resiliency of the case itself. Followings storage where extreme temperatures prevail, we recommend cleaning the luggage (see cleaning instructions above).

How do you measure the capacity of each luggage?

Multiply height x width x length of a bag in cm and divide it by 1000 to get the volume in liters. This capacity is usually expressed in litres.

Are there standard dimensions for bags?

The standard dimensions for bags are Small (20 inch), Medium (24 inch) and Large (28 inch). Small bags are used as cabin luggage and medium & large are used as check-in luggages.

What is the maximum weight each luggage can hold?

  • Cabin luggage (20“) can hold weight from 7kgs to 10 kgs
  • Medium size luggage (24“) can hold weight from 15-20 kgs
  • Large size luggage (28”) can hold weight from 25-30 kgs

What is the maximum size of baggage and weight that I can carry while travelling?

The baggage policy for each airline varies. It depends on the airlines policies, your ticket type, destination etc. We request you to ask the airline for details before planning on the size and weight of your luggage.

What is normal lock and how to use it?

Following steps have to be followed to set the combination for the normal/non-TSA locks. Keys are not needed to lock the bag.

  • The lock is pre-set to 0-0-0.
  • Push the button towards the outside
  • While in this position, set each number to your selection
  • Release the button and your number is now set

Take care when setting the numbers and do not release the button while setting it.

What is TSA lock and how to use it?

In the United States, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires access to luggage without the passenger being present. To allow travellers to lock their luggage they have accepted certain locks which they can open and relock. The TSA recommend that TSA accepted locks be used, as luggage locked using other methods must be opened by force in order to be inspected.

What is TSA lock and how to use it?

The lock is originally set to open at 0-0-0. To set your own personal combination, follow these steps:

  • Turn the dials to their original number 0-0-0.
  • Press down the reset button (a) with a pen (or similar) until you hear a ‘click’ sound.
  • Set your personal combination by turning the dials (b), for example 8-8-8.
  • Push the button (c) in the direction indicated by the arrow towards the dials and the reset button will ‘click’ back into place.
  • Your personal combination is now set.

Warning: If the lock cylinder is open, lock it again by turning the lock anticlockwise to the red dot position (any tool which can be inserted into the lock cylinder is ok to use).

What if I forget the lock combination and am unable to open the bag.

We are very sorry – for security reasons the TSA lock passcode needs to be remembered. For this reason, our warranty does not cover the wrong setting of combination locks. You would need to contact a local locksmith who can assist you to open the bag. However, in some bags we are able to provide a hack on how to open the lock but for that you would need to write an email to [email protected] for further assistance.
